Keep Rattlesnakes Off Your Property

Central Texas is prime habitat for rattlesnakes, including Western Diamondback and Timber Rattlesnake. Encounters rise near greenbelts, creeks, and rocky lots common around Austin, Dripping Springs, Lakeway, Bee Cave, and Georgetown. MB Wildlife Control designs and installs snake fencing that blocks ground entry, reduces hiding spots, and keeps pets and children safer in yards and common areas.

What Is a Snake Fence

A snake fence is a continuous barrier that prevents snakes from crawling into a protected area. It uses tight mesh, secure ground contact, and sealed gate systems so snakes cannot squeeze through gaps or push underneath.

  • Fine mesh: typically 1/4 inch galvanized hardware cloth to stop juvenile and adult snakes
  • Secure ground seal: trench set or hard-surface anchored to block crawl unders
  • Clean lines: no footholds, no climb points, and trimmed vegetation along the barrier
  • Sealed gates: tight clearances with sweeps and kick plates where needed

Our Installation Standards

  • Height: 30 to 36 inches above grade with a slight outward cant to discourage climbing
  • Mesh: 1/4 inch galvanized hardware cloth or black PVC coated mesh for low visibility
  • Trench: 4 to 6 inches deep where soil allows, or concrete anchor on hardscape
  • Posts and ties: corrosion resistant fasteners, continuous top and bottom fastening
  • Gates: custom sweeps, thresholds, and side seals with minimal clearance
  • Tie-ins: sealed connections to walls, columns, corners, and existing perimeter fencing

Every fence is site built to your layout. We review drainage, pet use, and HOA appearance guidelines so the barrier works and looks right.

Why Austin Area Properties Need Snake Exclusion

  • Landscape: limestone ledges, native plantings, and warm microclimates attract rodents and snakes
  • Corridors: greenbelts, creeks, and utility easements bring wildlife straight to neighborhoods
  • Seasonality: spring and fall activity spikes, with summer evening movement after hot days

A well built snake fence reduces yard entry and complements other risk-reduction steps like brush trimming and rodent control.

  3. Installation: trench or anchor, fasten continuous mesh, seal gates and corners
  4. Quality check: walkthrough and photo documentation of all seals and transitions
  5. Care guide: maintenance tips and habitat recommendations for lasting results

Aesthetics and Compliance

The light gray galvanized steel is the most often requested, because it really seems to “vanish” the most, aesthetically speaking. We also offer black coated mesh that blends with iron and wood fencing. Many neighborhoods allow snake mesh as an interior liner. We can provide drawings and photos for HOA review on request.

Maintenance and Warranty

  • Annual or seasonal inspections available for high risk lots
  • Repairs for storm or landscaping damage
  • Workmanship warranty provided with each install

Frequently Asked Questions

Will a snake fence stop small snakes?
Yes. The 1/4 inch mesh blocks juveniles and adults when installed to our specs.

Do I need to fence the entire yard?
Best results come from full perimeter barriers. Targeted enclosures for patios, dog runs, or play areas are also effective when a full perimeter is not practical.

Is it safe for pets?
Yes. Materials are pet safe. We also remove snag hazards and recommend gate hardware suited to frequent use.

Do you remove snakes too?
Yes. We provide on call removal, site inspections, and habitat recommendations that support the fence.
